The evening
Sunny weather and an ocean view set the tone for a wedding at Water's Edge Resort and Spa in Westbrook, Connecticut, on July 25, 2026. The ceremony was small and close, held for immediate family and longtime friends, and it moved into a cocktail hour and then a reception that ran well into the night.
Two artists sketched during the cocktail hour and reception and finished 80 portraits. Each guest paused for a twenty-second photo with our host and went straight back to the cocktail hour, then got a text when their sketch was ready. Many were surprised by how much of their outfit made it onto the page from a single photo.
Between the dancing and the sketching, most of the guests went home with a drawing of themselves in their wedding-day outfit.
