The evening
A child's first communion was celebrated at Red Hook Cidery in Brooklyn on May 2, 2026. The party was built for kids, with different stations set up around the cidery where children could play and make their own art, and around 95 family members and friends came through over the course of the party.
One artist sketched for three hours in the Runway style and finished 36 portraits, 5x7 inches each. Some of the younger guests were sketched from photos their parents shared, so the kids who were busy playing did not miss out.
Everyone who received a sketch enjoyed it, and the hosts made a point of thanking the artist before the party wrapped up.
